Miramax:
Miramax is a global film and television studio founded in the 1979 by the Weinstein brothers. It was created to distribute independent films that were deemed 'commercially unfeasible' by major studios. Examples of Miramax films include Trainspotting, Pulp Fiction and Adventureland.
I think that this company would be a potential distributor, as my production would be a low budget independent film.
I can also see similar themes running through many of their films that will be included in my trailer, e.g. drug use (Trainspotting), a man sent on a specific 'quest/mission' (Pulp Fiction).
Visually, I really like the Miramax logo. The font is a blocky, bold Sans Serif font - this looks urban and contemporary. I also think that the yellow font is effective - the vibrancy of the colour makes the logo stand out, but does not make it lose any of its simplicity.
Film 4:
Film4 was established in 1982 as a film production company owned by Channel 4 Television Corporation.
They mainly distribute films made in the UK, such as This is England, Room and Starred Up.
I think that this company would also be a potential distributor for my film, as they did not originally broadcast that many blockbusters. This therefore means that they would be likely to take an interest in my low budget production.
Visually I like this ident as I think it is clever; the square bordering the text subtly doubles up as the number 4. Again, the simplicity of the blocky Sans Serif font is aesthetically pleasing, this one being even more extreme as the lettering is purely made up of the same straight lines.
I also like the way they have taken the logo from being 2D and have incorporated the design into an installation, suggesting that the company are contemporary.
